Why Some Moments Defy Logic But Still Change Us As People
There are times in everyone’s life when people have situations that slip through our human radar as to what is rational and what is not. These occurrences stymie our minds and end up confusing our expectations. They arrive at the door to our hearts/souls and appear as unexpected and unplanned gifts; they may be a glance from a friend, a word, or a sunrise/sunset that leaves an undeniable impact on our lives. We may not be able to state in human words what just happened to us, but it is very real, and we will feel that at our core.
Perhaps a sunrise speaks of a message of impact to one’s heart or soul? Perhaps it is a friend or a stranger telling us something that suddenly clarifies what befuddled us minutes before?
Whatever triggers transformation, whether it’s tears, joy, awe, grief or understanding, such emotions can at times defy the laws of reason. Sometimes it’s the interplay between our hearts and life’s mysteries; intuition and feelings often play a large role in mystery, or that which cannot be explained with logical reason. These illogical occurrences can change our perspective on something we’ve struggled with, or they may redirect our plans or our journeys and remind us that beauty and mystery are inherent in being fully human.
In my book, "Benedictions Given to an Ordinary Woman,” I have encountered many spiritual experiences that cannot be explained with reason or rational explanation, but they happened. They had a permanent impact on my life and who I wanted to become: More holy, more centered, more in tune with others’ needs, more time with Jesus, more of being in His word, less driven by this world, less worried about the world of the flesh and more comforted by eternity with our Father.
My 14 spiritual experiences and my times with Jesus have changed my life’s path forever. I no longer want to control my life and the outcome of my future, so I have turned that page over to Jesus, and Him I will follow.
Shalom~shalom!
