Leaving a Spiritual Legacy for Your Children and Grandchildren

In the Bible, there are many stories about the ways God has intervened in people's lives. As a child and throughout my growing years, I also heard these stories in Bible school and Sunday school. But I never thought a miracle would happen to me! I believe miracles occurred in the years when Jesus walked the Earth. He intervened in Zacchaeus’s life. He healed the sick, the physically challenged, and the hearing-impaired. He calmed the waters when the disciples were in the boat and afraid of the storm. He fed thousands of people with three loaves and two fish. He was actively involved in the lives of his disciples and others.

But a miracle in my lifetime, and for me, was never anything I considered- it never even entered my mind! Miracles weren’t real to me; I heard about them, but never took them seriously. Besides, miracles happened to other people… maybe people on the other side of the world… maybe for someone I’ve never heard of. No one I knew had ever talked about having a miracle occur in their life. Goodness, sakes, people might think someone was crazy if they went around talking about miracles! And I’m in the business, I ought to know!

But I am here to tell you that for the past 37 years, I’ve felt called to write this book of mine, Benedictions Given to an Ordinary Woman. For years, God would wake me up in the middle of the night with a firm nudge to write about my latest spiritual experience. From a deep sleep, I would suddenly wake as the thought to get up and write dropped into my sleepy mind. I don’t like to get out of bed in the middle of the dark, cold night. Nonetheless, there I was pounding away at my computer for Jesus. I’d stop writing only when the sun was coming up and I knew I had to be a mother to my children and a counselor to others.

I had completed the first draft, but many more followed throughout the years. At times, my manuscript sat quietly on my computer, and years would pass. I had a second miracle, then a third, and then a fourth, until I reached spiritual experience number 10. Then, I became serious about writing a “someday” book.

Since I wrote my book, it has become very important to me to write for my family, including my children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Perhaps one day, 100 years from now, when I’m not even a memory to anyone, someone in need might find my book. I pray it would be helpful to him/her to find their way and discover God‘s designed path for them. That’s the only way to true happiness.

To walk the path Jesus has for my life, well, I’m getting a late start, but it’s so very fulfilling to know God oversees my life now! I can breathe! I have freedom! I worry less! Sure, I have times of anxiety… anxiety about how to write a book has caused me to gain 10 pounds! Oh, but I’ve eaten some of the best sugar in my life!

My lifetime prayer is that my book will encourage you in your struggles. I pray my book offers you hope, and the option to live your best life. If you are suffering, I have a book for you! If you are troubled, I have a book for you! If you are confused, I have a book for you.

Jesus says, “Be still and know that I am God.” I love that!

Blessings to you all,

Kristin
